NORDIC & BALTIC YOUNG ARTIST AWARD 2019
Nordic & Baltic Young Artists Award held in 2019 presented 97 young artists and 301 artworks.
Grand Prix: Rag Elnyg (Finland, Uniarts) with mixed media artwork Titled, because someone used ”untitled” already., 2019. The Grand Prix award endorses the artist with 2 000 euros and a unique opportunity to showcase artwork at Tallinn Art Week in summer 2020.
Painter Award: Janis Šneiders (Latvia), series of paintings, The Place Awarded with 1000-euro monetary prize.
Fotografiska Tallinn Award: Ignas Pavliukevičius (Lithuania) installation What the other I want. Awarded with an invitation to have a solo exhibition at Fotografiska Tallinn.
Public Choice: Rasuole Jautakyte sculpture Objects for body. Simulation of mental disorders. Paranoia, 2019. The winner received a 500-euro prize.
The international jury of NBYAA’19 included Anne Klontz (USA/Sweden konstfack), Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger (Helsinki Uniarts), Anni Anttonen(Helsinki Uniarts), Pire Sova (Estonian Academy of Arts), Andra Orn (contemporary art platform NOAR.eu), Andris Vitolinš (Latvian Academy of Arts), Milda Dainovskytė (Vilnius Academy of Arts).
NBYAA’19 award ceremony and exhibition of the winner was held in the Latvian National Museum of Art exhibition space "Arsenāls".
