Intoxicated tree of life, 2019

160 x 1275 cm

Oil on canvas One of two paintings from my thesis project, currently shown at Kuvan Kevät 2019, (MFA group exhibition in Exhibition Laboratory, Helsinki, Finland) Selfportrait with my cousin. The theme explores being lost and finding yourself again. Questioning the tradition of celebration of life with consuming intoxicating substances. What kind of effect do people have on each other and why, sometimes it feels that it’s easiest to hurt the ones that are closest to you. There is a written text available for the audience to read in the gallery space during the exhibition which tells a long version of my thoughts behind this painting.
