I Dress for the Part I Wish I Had, 2019

600 x 500 cm

Sewn objects, video, sound

The installation consists of sewn objects and an interactive mirror table. The work deals with self-presentation, which is affected by several external factors – stereotypical and standard expectations in everyday situations as well as in social media. The author approaches the topic on a personal level, involving different parts and rituals of her everyday activities. She creates the tools needed to prepare for different situations. The aim is to recreate the backstage, where these activities usually take place. The work can be divided into different stages, where the objects and tools are gradually approached and complement each other. Through restaging, the author grasps at the boundaries of control and examines how such obsessive compliance affects her.
