Viktor Kiss

I am Viktor Kiss (born in 1981), an Estonian sculptor and interdisciplinary artist. My artistic practice combines contemporary sculpture, installation art, social design, and medicine. I graduated from the Department of Sculpture of Pallas University of Applied Sciences, where my thesis project, “Development and Fabrication of a Magnet-Retained Auricular Epithesis within an Interdisciplinary Project in the Estonian Context,” received the highest evaluation from the examination committee and was recommended for nominations for academic research awards. At the core of my artistic practice are the intersections of human identity, technology, and society. I place particular emphasis on social design and projects aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Since 2025, I have been sponsoring of the Estonian Paralympic Committee with my art. I am also the initiator and creator of Estonia’s first pilot project for a magnet-retained auricular epithesis, developed in cooperation with Tartu University Hospital. My work brings together artistic creativity and socially meaningful initiatives, generating innovative solutions at the intersection of art, medicine, and technology. From 2022 to 2023, I served as Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Young Sculptors’ Association (MTÜ Eesti Noorte Skulptorite Liit), contributing to the development of the professional community of emerging sculptors and facilitating collaborative projects. I currently work as an exhibition installer and exhibition co-designer at the Tartu Art Museum, where I participate in the realization of exhibitions and cultural projects. Among my most significant achievements are the development and fabrication of the first magnet-retained auricular epithesis in Estonian history for a 12-year-old patient with Grade III microtia; winning the competition to design the annual award trophy for the Estonian Paralympic Committee with my work “Agitos” (2025); and receiving second prize in the competition for the memorial to Ülo Sooster with the concept “The Man Who Dried a Towel in the Wind” (2026). Notable exhibition projects include the exhibition “Frequently Asked Questions” at the Elva Cultural Centre and Tamsalu Cultural House (2025–2026), participation in the group exhibition “Dialogue” at the Raplamaa Centre for Contemporary Art (2023), and my curatorial and exhibition design work for the exhibitions “Brain, to-go” and “Gods” at Gallery Pallas. My background in medicine, design, and sculpture enables me to create projects that not only possess aesthetic value but also deliver practical and social impact.
