Carpe diem, 2026
akrüül lõuendil
In this work, I depict the moment when a person has made an inner decision to move forward and open themselves to new possibilities. The figure is captured in a moment of movement. The fiery energy, vivid colours, and layered surface of the painting express an inner awakening and a movement from a state of limitation toward a more open and receptive state. I am interested in the moment when a person chooses to trust themselves and take a step forward, without fully knowing what the new situation may bring. The title Carpe diem refers to conscious presence — the ability to recognise the opportunities of life and not postpone what is meaningful. The work approaches adaptation not only as the ability to endure change, but also as a willingness to embrace it and actively participate in one’s own life. The work has participated in the joint exhibition of Umbra studio artists “Silent Metamorphoses” at Tampere House Gallery in July 2026.
