The artist´s comment on the artwork: “Who’s the lucky one is about luck; especially about the custom of turning one cigarette upside down from a new pack & naming it the “lucky cigarette.” This cigarette is smoked last and it is thought to give you good luck. In my sculpture two female characters are sharing the last two cigarettes of a pack; it is unsure who gets to be the lucky one. The facial expressions of the characters hint that they are well aware of the situation.
I have recently been very interested in lucky objects. The concept of trying to achieve better luck in this world by obtaining objects that possess that luck continues to intrigue me.”
