PRESERVE MY LANGUAGE FOREVER, 2023
Steel, linen canvas, wooden frames
,,PRESERVE MY LANGUAGE FOREVER” is the title of the book, which is a direct reference to a book of prose by poet Osip Mandelstam. The writer’s writings were burnt and almost forgotten in the course of history, but his wife, who memorised the poems, was able to preserve her husband’s words for ever. The rhythm, the pauses, the repetitions of the raw grey canvases are encased in metallic armour that embraces them like armour and prevents them from breaking down in time. It is an attempt to reveal the importance of preservation in history, which is manifested both in the sensitive, affectionate memory and in the rough metal armour, which overcomes the inexorable desire to delay, if only for a moment, the disappearance of everything.
