Indrek Köster

Indrek Köster (b. 1970) is an Estonian artist who studied sculpture at the Tartu Art School and the Estonian Academy of Arts. In 2018 he completed his MA studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Estonian Academy of Arts.


He first participated in an exhibition at the Tartu Autumn Exhibition in 1992. Between 2006 and 2021 he was particularly active as part of the artist duo Johnson and Johnson (with Taavi Talve). Köster has held several solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. Most recently, he took part in the Estonian contemporary printmaking exhibition “Wiiralt Prize 2025”.


He has been a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association since 2011 and received the Annual Prize of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia (Fine and Applied Arts Endowment) in 2013. His works are included in the collections of Kumu Art Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM), Tartu Art Museum, and the Ludwig Museum.
