Annemarija Gulbe

Annemarija Gulbe (1997) works with photography, video, and installation. She graduated Art Academy of Latvia – audio visual media art / visual communication department (MA 2023, BA 2021). Gulbe studied photography at ISSP School and Andrejs Grants photo studio (Rīga, LV). Annemarija Gulbe is one of the winners of the Kim? Contemporary Art Center Open call prize 2023. Artist received a Grand Prix prize at the Biennale of Contemporary Art “Jeune creation Européene 2019” in Montrouge, Paris and won the Fotokvartals FK prize 2018 as the best young Latvian photographer. Her works have been exhibited in group shows and published in the books “Latvian Photography” and “Did you notice me?”, final edition of the Belgrade Photo Month Young Talent Competition, magazines “Jezga” and “Veto magazine”. Artist had two solo shows, exhibiting works from the series “Love re-search” at “Organ Vida” photo festival in Zagreb (2019) and ISSP gallery in Riga (2020) which provoked censorship and conversations about the body and its representation. Her resent solo show took a place in gallery Look!, Riga, Latvia (2023). In 2021 Annemarija spent several months in “Jeune creation Européene biennale” artist residency in Montrouge, (Paris, FR) but later in 2022 worked as assistant at curator collective “Komplot” (Brussels, BE). She continued her work as a curator in Padure Manor (LV), where recently realized group show “Decentrality dispersed in one place” (2023).
