Moonlight Suite I portrays a single tree peony from my garden – a rare bloom that appears only once each summer and fades almost immediately. Enlarged across a 100 × 120 cm canvas, the flower shifts between the form of a tree peony and a white rose, emerging through layered watercolor and oil in an emerald‑green nocturnal tonality. The idea for this piece traces back to France, where I painted a small oil study of rose petals on my cardboard canvas and sensed a quiet, moonlit movement within them. Here, that early intuition unfolds into a larger vision: a flower held in stillness, yet gently dancing in the night.
