Acrylic on wood

Painting 3/3 is exhibited at the Art house, fine arts graduation show called Nytt2024, 04/2024. 3/3 is a time- and place related abstract painting. The changes in light constantly create different spaces and moods in the work at different times of the day. The work lives and changes according to the changes in the surrounding space and this affects how we perceive it. The glossy surface of the work reflects, mirrors and absorbs its surroundings, merging it into a part of the surrounding space. The main subject of the work is its materiality. Through paintings, I study how to work with acrylic paint, make different kind of textures with it and bring physicality into the process. The paintings consist of five thick layers of acrylic paint mass, which are done one at a time. I worked on the paintings by pouring paint on the canvas while it lay horizontally on the floor. The picture subject of the paintings refers to me to a gloomy, utopian dream landscape and to some kind of a nocturnal sea. The work is a diptych so it consist of two separate paintings.
