Polyester thread, metal web, wire, fishing line
This installation is about the choices we make every day, how they influence who we are and how these choices shape our image. Threads are associated with the lifeline in Lithuanian, Latvian and even Greek mythology. In this artwork, it symbolises choices. In life, some of them are conscious, some of them are unnoticed, but they are still made (learned as a reflex or taken from past experience), as Sartre said, “Choice is inevitable.”. By constantly wrapping ourselves around our daily choices, we create this enormous web that reflects who we are today – human beings, created by all the choices we have made in the past and will make in the future. This artwork was exhibited in Telšiai gallery of Vilnius Academy of Arts in the group exhibition “Graduation show” (2025.06.03 – 2025.06.28). Now it is exhibited in the Museum of Diocese of Samogitia in Varniai.
