Painting depicts Afghanistan Bamiyan Valley, the place where Taliban destroyed two large Buddhas in 2001. In 2008 archaeologists found 19-meter-long reclining Buddha close to the place, but the 300-meter long “reclining Buddha” described in old documents has not yet been found.
