I brought ghosts here with me, 2026
multichannel sound installation in an empty space, 3 different lengths sound tracks, infinite loop, eviction notice printed on A4 paper
“I brought ghosts here with me” is a sound installation reflecting on the ghosts in everyday life. In the installation, you can hear field recordings from my hometown in the pre-Alps area in Italy as well as sounds of home appliances recorded with a contact microphone and with electromagnetic pickups of the sound studio that I used for creating this work. The “I” in the title not only refers to me as the artist but also the fridge, the printer, the sound studio. All these elements, from their production to transportation, bring all their ghosts (cultural, ethical, ecological implications) with them. Though now the ghosts have evicted me from the staircase, they have taken control of the space and the tracks overlap and resonate beyond my control, so I hope they don’t spook you too much! The work, through it’s hidden active speakers and transducers, resonate and makes the structure vibrate, bringing attention to the architecture in which is set. In the case of the exhibition Kuvan Kevät 2026, it was set in a transitional space, a spiral staircase connecting the 5th floor to the 6th and last floor of the exhibition.
