Miina Barrera Pinochet

(née Peterson) (born 1991) is an artist from Estonia who works and lives mainly in Kassel and Tartu. Her main media are painting, performance and video. In 2016, she graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts with a bachelor's degree in fine arts and continued her master's studies in Contemporary Art. Before studying art, she studied landscape design at Tartu College of Tallinn University of Technology. She has improved herself as an exchange student at the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) and most recently at the Kassel Academy of Arts (KhK) in the direction of performance and multidisciplinary practices. Mainly through painting, performance and video, she creates works where the main focus is on the influence of nature, psychology and rituals. She is interested in the primordial connection between nature and man, which in today's society is increasingly controversial and blurred. She has been participating in exhibitions since 2011. Works in private collections in Estonia, Germany, Chile and the United States.
