Kolya Kotov (b. 1987, Moscow, Soviet Union) is a visual artist currently based in Helsinki. Through their art, Kolya delves into their own identity as a transgender individual and explores profound questions surrounding queer and disabled bodies. Their artistic practice encompasses a diverse range of mediums, including textiles, kinetic compositions, performance, installation, moving image, and photography. Kolya received the Anita Snellman Foundation award for their MFA thesis work titled “opus phase iii,” which was showcased at the Kuvan Kevät exhibition.
