Gints Virgilijs Tilks Emerging artist

Gints Virgilijs Tilks

Artist's country of origin: Latvia

Graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts in 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication. Spent one semester in UdK Berlin studying in experimental exhibition class. Studying architecture and sculpture has helped him to understand the relationship between space and objects. He uses sculptural elements, photographic imagery and digital composition to create spatially diffused narratives. Believes that the best result comes when you collaborate. He has participated in an augmented reality group show “As if lost” in which he explored the possibilities of digital art to bypass the rules of gravity. In the fall of 2021 together with Ieva Viese – Vigule started to work as an artist duo and created an exposition “Self fulfilling prophecies” where the relationship between words, thoughts, beliefs and their realization were explored. In 2022 together with two other artists created the artist group “CIM”. At the exhibition “4ever” they were exploring coping mechanisms and escapism. He is still participating in both artist groups and currently working on new projects.
