Emilija Ukrainec Emerging artist
Artist is based in: Lithuania
Emilija Ukrainec is a Lithuanian artist based in Vilnius, working across photography, moving image, installation, and material-based practices. She graduated with a BA in Photography and Media Arts from the Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2026, where she developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning animation, film, sound, photography, and installation. Her education placed a strong emphasis on conceptual art, encouraging her to place research and ideas at the centre of her artistic process, while studies in theory, history, and philosophy have shaped her understanding of the relationship between art and society.
In 2023, Ukrainec studied in the Fine Arts department at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm through the Erasmus+ exchange programme, broadening her artistic perspective and encouraging experimentation across disciplines. In September 2026, she continues this international experience through an Erasmus+ internship in Athens, working in the metal sculpture studio of artist Dimitris Tampakis.
Her recent exhibitions include the Vilnius Academy of Arts Graduation Exhibition and the graduate exhibition at Atletika Gallery in Vilnius (2026). In 2023, she participated in a group exhibition at Kauno menininkų namai as part of the Audra Art & Music Festival and took part in the NEMES workshop at the Nida Art Colony (2022). While her practice began with photography and digital media, she has increasingly shifted towards physical materials, spatial thinking, and collaborative processes, exploring the relationship between concepts and material forms.
