Olger Lehtsaar (born in 1995) is a sculptor who resides in Tartu. He began his studies in the University of Tartu in the field of biology (2014-2018) from there he went to the Pallas University of Applied Sciences (2016-2022). He graduated Pallas with Amandus recognition. During his studies he participated in a snow sculpture symposium in Valloire France, created a bas-relief of Oskar Rütli on a commission, helped create the works for the artist Jevgeni Zolotko’s exhibition “Love”, took part in various movie projects by decorating sets or building more complex props. He has participated in exhibitions like “Maniacal rhythms”(2017), “Exhibition of sculptures from Pallas at EULC”, “0,04tk/m²”(2019), “vali Vari” (2020), “Flows into being” (2021), “Graduates of 2022”(2022) and most recently “Canned materia” (2022). He describes sculptures as entirety that captures the state of mind, or in other words a physical manifestation of a thought or state of mind in its most certain form. Describing state of mind via objects gives more nuances for expression as often there may be a lack of words for a proper explanation. Therefore sculpture can be the entity that brings together the states of mind of different people. He approaches creation in a thorough manner and with care. His earlier works have been in various sizes and materials and mostly in classical style. But lately he has been focusing on miniature plastics with the interest of using alternative methods like electroforming to apply the aspect uncertainty to his process of creating form. He moves towards creating his own unique style through a growingly more actual topic of relationship between humans and the environment.
