Loora Kaubi Emerging artist
Artist is based in: Estonia
Loora Kaubi (1998) explores themes of sleep, personal and collective memory,
and fatigue in her work. By often using materials prone to decay, her practice
alludes to the past as a burden, where hibernation as a metaphor might offer
a possible form of consolation. Kaubi graduated from the MA programme in
contemporary art at LUCA School of Arts and from the painting programme at
the Estonian Academy of Arts, and has furthered her studies at the Academy
of Fine Arts Vienna as well as during an internship in Mexico City. She has
received the weekly prize of the Estonian Young Contemporary Art Association
and the Wiiralt Prize, and has participated in exhibitions in Belgium, Mexico,
Austria, and Estonia.
