“I would like to thank the entire Vilnius Academy of Arts community and the Council for their trust. It is a great responsibility and an obligation to continue the work we have started. We are the ones who have the responsibility to train professionals in the fields of art, design and architecture, who are motivated to work for the benefit of Lithuania and to promote Lithuania through their creativity worldwide. Currently, the Academy in Vilnius, Kaunas, Telšiai and Klaipėda has more than 1,700 students and more than 300 renowned artists teaching them,” says Prof. Ieva Skauronė, the Rector of the Academy.
Ieva Skauronė completed her master’s studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts in 2003. She began teaching in 2009 and has had leading positions at the Department of Site-specific Art and Scenography and the International Relations Office since 2013. She has also accomplished numerous staff training in various foreign art and design institutions. The Rector is an expert member of international art and science commissions, a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union, has held more than 30 solo painting exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.
The Vilnius Academy of Arts initiated the procedures for the election of a new Rector in March this year. Prof. Ieva Skauronė was the only candidate in the rector’s election for the post at VDA. The rector of VDA is elected every five years.
