Rosa Helin's Travelogues exhibition features paintings inspired by her residency trips, as well as ceramic sculptures of the four-legged creatures Rosa encountered.
In my artistic work, I use subjects from photographs from residency trips, which I combine with the moods, images and spaces experienced there. Memories later combine with painting or ceramics, and encounters with atmosphere. In my works, I aim for what is left behind, something that I experienced and wanted to return to that memory or mental image. The same spirit is repeated in the ceramics, the figures have a feeling of the four-legged ones they have encountered. Some of the paintings in the exhibition were made in the Salzburg residency in the summer of 2022.
Rosa Helin graduated as a visual artist from the Turku Academy of Arts in 2019. Her works have been exhibited in Finland, Denmark, Italy and Austria. At Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova, Gumbostrand Konst & Form, Aura Gallery, Turku Taidehall, RAW Rome Art Week and Salzburg. In 2021, he was the Nordic Carlsberg Foundation’s Portrait Now! portrait award finalist at the Danish Museum of National History.
