Valentina Arlauskaite is a contemporary painter, graduate with a Master’s degree in Painting from the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Her artistic practice explores existential themes, psychological states, and the human condition, evolving from her earlier studies on the visualization of death to her current investigation into absent-mindedness and emotional voids. During her Bachelor’s studies, she examined the duality of mortality, analyzing how depictions of the human body in its transient state evoke both curiosity and discomfort. Her research sought to understand what encourages or discourages engagement with such imagery. This exploration naturally led her to reflect on emptiness, loss, and the need to compensate for absence. Her work seeks to fill the void—both physically and emotionally—through painted imagery, covering empty spaces and confronting unresolved or misunderstood emotional states.

Throughout her academic journey, she has participated in several notable exhibitions, including: • “Krateris” (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kreatorium, 2020) – a group exhibition during her third year of Bachelor’s studies. • “By One” (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Painting Corridor, 2020) – a group exhibition of painting students during her fourth year. • Solo exhibition “Here and Now” (Beatrice’s House, April 2022) – her first personal exhibition. • Zabolis Art Prize 2022 & 2023 – recognized in the top 20 finalists with her works “After the Lights Go Out” (2022) and “Paralyzing Thoughts” (2023). • “Art Without a Roof” (Vilnius) – a public art project featuring her work “Vital Anomaly”.

Her work continues to explore the psychological and emotional tensions inherent in absence, memory, and perception, offering viewers a space for contemplation and self-reflection.
