Silent Dialogue, 2023
woven branches, participatory performance
I was first interested in creating a smaller version of the “Silence Chamber”- the woven branch structure that I made in the forest – that could be activated spontaneously on campus for the thesis exhibition. I wanted to create moments of listening and grounded-ness in an often busy gallery setting. I envisioned the contrast of noise and motion with our silence and stillness. How might communication happen through the subtle shifting of body weight felt indirectly through branches? How might listening to each other in this way develop into a dialogue?
