Brit Kikas’ and Dana Lorên Vares’ collaborative exhibition takes a look at shedding one’s skin as a constant rebirth. Through repetition come together jewellery and printmaking, showing the viewer tactile changes that form endless chains and patterns.
Brit Kikas (1997) is in the middle of her master studies in Contemporary art in the Estonian Academy of Arts and is presently doing her exchange year in Kuvataideakatemia in Helsinki. In 2021 Kikas had her first solo exhibition “CORPORA PRIMA” in Positiiv gallery and in 2022 she co-curated the 18th Tallinn Print Triennial’s youth exhibition “Slow Manoeuvres” in EKKM. Previously Kikas has taken part in many group exhibitions like “Soft Narratives” (2020), “Spring Exhibition” (2021) in Tallinn Art Hall gallery. She has also taken part in different international group exhibitions like “BOOKED” (2021) in Helsinki Kaapelitehdas, “Blended intensive Project” (2022) in Vienna in Neuer Kunstverein Wien.
Dana Lorên Vares (1998) is doing her masters studies in the Estonian Academy of Arts in the Jewellery and Blacksmithing department. In 2017 she co-directed her first dance performance “My name is how I name myself”. During her studies she took part in different group exhibitions like “Künnis” (2020), “TASE’21” (2021), “Valus on” (2021) and “B-106” (2022), she has also participated in international projects “Notes on fashion and gender” (2022) and “Second chance” (2022). Vares has taken part in different performances as a dancer/performer: “IHA” (2019), “Past as I remember it” (2020), “Greenfield:Füüsis” (2018).
