The exhibition invites you to delve deep into the world of children's book illustrator Beatrice Alemagna, based on the book We go to the park. Beatrice Alemagna started drawing on playgrounds in Paris and from that a conversation between her and the writer Sara Stridsberg emerged about freedom and dreams. The collaboration resulted in the acclaimed picture book We go to the park, a poetic story about play and friendship that contains magnificent landscapes, small ants and tempting climbing poses. All around, children balance, climb, read, wait and rest, inventing and discovering the world through their play.
Beatrice Alemagna (b. 1973) comes from Bologna in Italy, but has lived in Paris since 1996. Her innovative picture books with pictures in a variety of techniques have been translated into many different languages. Alemagna has received a number of prestigious international awards including the Premio Andersen Award, the New YorkTimes Best Illustrated and New York City Library’s Best Children’s Book, the Huckepack Prize, the English Association Book Award, the American Society of Illustrators’ Gold Medal and the Grand Prix de L’ Illustration and Prix Landerneau.
