Lauda Gallery opens its first season with the exhibition “The Party Within Myself”. The exhibition’s concept stems from the curator's memory of a carnival-themed birthday party from decades past. It invites the viewer into a world where the carnival becomes a metaphor for life—an overstimulated arena where we try to catch the uncatchable, all while seeking a quiet sanctuary amidst the clamor. It is a celebration that doesn't need to end, even when the arena lights fade to black.
The driving force behind this exhibition is a decades-old memory of the curator’s mother’s carnival-themed birthday party, a bizarre and vibrant moment that has lingered along her creative path as a reminder that a party is not merely an external event, but a living, experienced energy within a person. This exhibition is an attempt to resurrect that long-experienced spirit, not as a static admiration of a memory, but as a new and pulsating way of being, where life is simultaneously excess and intimacy, mystique and genuine joy.
Here, the carnival serves as a metaphor for life itself – a colorful and oversaturated arena where we strive to capture the unattainable, to throw a ball at a target and win our symbolic teddy bear. Yet, this game is not meant for entertainment alone. Amidst the grand bustle, we simultaneously search for that quiet corner and for our kindred spirits, with whom we can share the indivisible weight of existence and a sincere sense of presence. It is a space where the artist and the viewer meet in a shared desire to keep the party within themselves, regardless of the role society demands of us outside the arena.
“The Party Within” rejects nothing; instead, it weaves together the extreme and the profound, the colorful and the dim. The exhibition hall transforms into a cabinet of curiosities, where social proximity and communal support dissolve into an individual search for self. It is an invitation to view life as an incessant carnival, where every emotion, movement, and nuance is part of a grand celebration, even when it takes place in silence.
This is a carnival of thought and emotion, where lifting the curtain makes the inner world visible, shaping it into a party that does not have to end, even when the lights on the arena go out. The party is a state of mind. The party is the freedom to be maskless, even in the midst of the grandest masquerade.
