The five artists who will be presented in Nitja in the spring of 2024 have been selected following an international open call in 2022, where artists across media and expression, and with experiences from war, conflict and political violence could apply. Among a large number of applicants, Zahrasadat Hakim, Eyoeal Kefyalew, Zun May Oo, Daria Pugachova and Gervais Tomadiatunga were nominated, and they will all develop new works for the exhibition. The artists work with various media, including social projects, textiles, photography, figure theatre, performance and contemporary dance. Common to their different practices, however, are experiences related to war and violent conflict, and how this can be thematized and treated through art is a common denominator.
