Artman Art Gallery’s opening exhibition, “Wiguriga Wiiralt”, presents a selection of Eduard Wiiralt’s works from the private collections of some of his most devoted admirers. The exhibition features well-known, lesser-known and rarely exhibited works from Wiiralt’s first Paris period and his second Estonian period.
These two important creative periods reveal different aspects of Eduard Wiiralt’s artistic language: his masterful line, sharp sense of character, grotesque humour, restlessness and human depth. The exhibition presents Wiiralt as an artist of exceptional technical skill, imagination and multilayered humour whose work continues to resonate with audiences across generations.
At the “Wiguriga Wiiralt” exhibition, visitors can see several of Wiiralt’s well-known and highly regarded works, including “The Preacher” (“Jutlustaja”), “Cabaret” (“Kabaree”), “Hell” (“Põrgu”), “Viljandi Landscape” (“Viljandi maastik”) and “Virve”.
Together, the works offer an overview of the different aspects of Wiiralt’s art, from figures and characters to imaginary worlds, landscapes and sensitive portraiture.

The works from private collections add a special dimension to the exhibition. They tell not only the story of Wiiralt as an artist, but also of the collectors whose interest and dedication have helped preserve, interpret and introduce his work to new audiences.
“Wiguriga Wiiralt” is the first exhibition at Artman Art Gallery and marks the opening of a new art space in Tallinn Old Town. The gallery’s aim is to promote Estonian art, collecting culture and artworks that hold both art-historical and personal significance.
