The entries that go on to the salon are selected by a jury consisting of representatives from the Museum of Work and invited experts. The entries are anonymized when the jury makes its selection.
THIS YEAR’S THEME
This year’s theme for the salon is “Time Travel”. We live in a time of breathtaking speed. In a contradictory world, we navigate between revolutions and innovations, facts and fakes, clashing worldviews. The outside world and not least the photo medium is facing major changes. It is difficult to say what the future will look like in just a few years. At the same time, we see great interest in our history.
– When I sat down and went through the total of 678 photos submitted to this year’s salon, I really felt invited on a journey. Not just a visual journey through time, because there have been many who have gone back in their photo archives this year, but also other types of journeys. I can’t help marveling at how a photograph and a few lines of text can transport me to another place, another time and sometimes even into people’s most private rooms, says Josefine Höijer, curator of Dokfotosalongen.
As usual, it was visitors to last year’s Dokfotosalong who were allowed to submit suggestions for this year’s theme. The theme was selected from over a hundred submitted proposals.
