Set amidst the sea and the Nordic landscape, the museum provides a fitting setting for the artist’s playful and surrealist works, which reflect the human inner world and its connection to the surrounding environment through a joyful, richly coloured painterly language.
“I am fascinated by human behaviour and relationships, as well as by an intuitive, playful approach to representation. This gives rise to a visual language in which organic forms, symbols, and fields of colour open up a space for multiple interpretations. In my work, form is never final or static—it grows, transforms, and interacts with its surroundings, reflecting both the rhythms of nature and the inner processes of the human mind, where play becomes a way of perceiving the world. I invite viewers to move beyond the boundaries of everyday reality, to trust their intuition, and to discover meanings that do not always lend themselves to rational explanation,” the artist says of her latest body of work.
The exhibition also features the large-scale work Familiar and Foreign Essence, created in collaboration with Ukraine-born artist Mariia Bonchuk, who lives and works in Estonia. The work invites viewers to reflect on how we perceive the familiar in unfamiliar surroundings, and the unfamiliar within what we consider familiar.
The exhibition has been realised in collaboration with Eero Muiste and Meelis Tammemägi.
The photographs was taken by Marek Kusmin. Featured in the background is the large-scale work Familiar and Foreign Essence, created in collaboration with the artist Mariia Bonchuk.
