Anna Kodź presents serigraphy works from the series: “On the other side of the mirror” and “An infinite number of transition forms”. The body in biological terms is well known to us, but the body as a matter of art is a completely different concept. Corporeality, cannot be clearly defined due to its many numerous connotations and involvement in socio-cultural relations. In the following work, she focuses on the representation of the female body in particular; the women’s corporeality can seen as the showcase of the present – on one side it is ubiquitous, possessed by mass culture, on the other a battle between a woman and her self. The body is an excellent subject for art, because it functions in a specific cultural reality created by socio-cultural practices. It is a “creation” which constantly eludes full cognizance and is obligated by various relations – between “I” and the physical, society – another “I”, religion, race, sex. IG @anakodz
Anna Trojanowska presents prints from last two years, the series: THE ORDER OF ENTROPY (2020) and UTWÓR PRACOWNICZY (2021). I always try to avoid being literal in my works. Instead of recreating – I create. Of course, it is not possible to completely cut myself off from reality and the impact it has on us, but I try to make sure that these connections are not strong enough to allow the spaces I create to be attached to a specific place and time. The printmaking studio is a place where images and ideas that exist in my mind come into the world. This place is full of mysterious smells, vials with strange objects and liquids, it is like an alchemist’s workshop. Prints created in it are like photographs of another reality, which I sometimes don’t understand. They are like snapshots from a dream from which we only remember some senseless image, sound or smell. And the more we try to remember it, the more it fades away. A mysterious afterimage remains.
