Margus Rump was born in Tartu, Estonia, on October 8, 1968.
He has worked as a freelance artist since 1997.
After completing his art studies in Tartu, he began developing a distinctive personal style, which he has continued to refine and expand to this day.
His work is created primarily in oil, acrylic, and pastel, although he has also worked in glass painting. In addition, he has been involved in book design and interior design projects.
Between 1995 and 2026, he has held 55 solo and group exhibitions.
Over the years, he has also organized painting workshops, creative art therapy courses, and summer art camps.
The core of his artistic oeuvre has been created in the landscapes of his native Estonia.
My paintings embody the spirit of a new era, often infused with mystical and visionary imagery. I frequently draw inspiration for my work from revelatory dreams and a wide range of spiritual teachings. I have sought creative inspiration in India, Spain, Italy, and Sri Lanka, yet the diverse and extraordinary landscapes of Estonia remain my greatest source of inspiration.
To be truly aware of who you are, where you come from, and where you are going—this is at the heart of my artistic journey. My earlier works are a synthesis of spiritual and energetic symbols and archetypal signs. A recurring theme throughout my art is the idea of an eternal journey, where movement is interwoven with moments of profound contemplation.
As a counterpoint to my symbolic paintings and mandalas, I have also created landscape paintings and marine impressions. These depictions of the meeting of land and water are less concerned with vibrant colour and more with conveying a sense of reverence for the primal power and quiet simplicity of nature.
Being in nature and painting are enduring sources of inner joy, peace, and fulfilment.
