The creative interest of the Slovak artist Mira Podmanicka (b. 1981) is defined by the forms of space perception, analysis and creation. The artist creates localized installations in galleries and project spaces located in historic buildings, thus blending creativity between sculpture and architecture. The author is interested in the traces of the activities and / or artistic expression of the former inhabitants, which become an integral part of the contextual space of the premises.

In artistic practice, Mira Podmanická takes a critical look at the economy of the cultural sector, which often lacks the resources to reconstruct or refurbish spaces in historic buildings. The works emphasize the fact that the layers of the wall remain for a long time with imperfections caused by uncontrolled environmental influences – moisture, mold, etc.The artist’s actualized “fight against time” is also revealed in the exhibition “Siena / The Wall”. The artist is creating a localized installation in the former building of the Vilnius Basilian Women’s Monastery, where the Arka Gallery is currently operating. Although the function of the building has changed significantly from its original purpose, the exhibition spaces are closely linked to the city’s historical past on both an architectural and a conceptual level. This means that the spaces belonging to the heritage of the Old Town of Vilnius cannot be radically changed and modernized, and the architectural elements of the past are active even after the reconstruction of the building. This is the first solo exhibition of Mira Podmanicka in Lithuania. Doctor of Art, Associate Professor, Department of Sculpture, Objects and Installation, Academy of Arts and Design, Bratislava, since 2001. She is actively involved in various art projects, residences and exhibitions (her works have been repeatedly presented in Lithuania at the Biennial of Textile Miniatures organized by the Arka Gallery, as well as at the group exhibition on contemporary Slovak glass and ceramics “More is More II”. also working in ceramics and jewelry design. The exhibition is sponsored by the Lithuanian Artists’ Union and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Riga.
