In the Pärnu Museum of New Art you can see a selection of Cillo’s post-impressionist paintings, where female nudes and Italian nature motifs merge into a harmonious play of colors. His canvas “Omaggio a Monet” (Dedicated to Claude Monet) is particularly masterful, where Cillo even surpasses the reflections of the famous French clouds in a dark stream of water.
Luigi Cillo’s works in the exhibition in Pärnu come from Maurilio Ceschini’s private collection. Works by Evald Okas from the collections of the Evald Okas Museum and the Museum of New Art. Mark Soosaar’s video film “Illuminations” from the Venice Biennale in 2011, when the 150th anniversary of the reunification of Italy was celebrated, will play in the black-box of the exhibition. King Vittorio Emanuele II of Sardinia proclaimed himself king of all of Italy in the spring of 1861 and gathered under his throne the small countries of the Apennine Peninsula.
