Bohman-Knäpper has the pleasure to start off the autumn season with Lars Lerin’s exhibition Nordland, which is exhibited at the gallery’s two locations, Sturegatan 36 and Rådmansgatan 15.

Lars Lerin presents in Nordland a new series of paintings and watercolour etchings from 2019-2020. As the title indicates, the exhibition tells about an area in northernmost Norway, the county of Nordland. Cities, harbors, fish farms and reclusive buildings, surrounded by a nordic landscape with its blue-toned shades and iridescent melancholy. With his well balanced value painting Lerin depicts a life in the periphery, and there are seldom people in the landscapes. The viewer stands alone in the face of decrepit barns, abandoned cars and grand nature. But despite the absence of human activity, there is a tingling feeling or notion of life. And the rusty car wrecks become symbols for the passage of time.

Lars Lerin was born 1954 in Munkfors, Sweden. Works and lives in Karlstad, Sweden. Lerin received his artistic training at Valands konsthögskola (1984) and at Gerlesborgsskolan (1975). He has had several separate and group exhibitions in art museums and institutions in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany, Norway and the United States. Lars Lerin is represented in several public art collections such as Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Malmö Konstmuseum and County Councils and Municipalities in Sweden and Norway.
