Born in Seoul, Republic of Korea in 1992, Cho Gi-Seok is one of Asia's most interesting up and coming artists and fashion photographers today.

He dropped out of the University of Kookmin University at age 20 to pursue his career as an art director, visual artist and photographer. Initially taking photos of his friends and flowers in Seoul, he gradually turned to fashion photography and at the same time (2016) created his own fashion brand KUSIKOHC. Gi-Seok is fascinated by beauty and the analogue process of photography that can capture it. He calls it “the unexpected beauty”, what to him a digital photograph simply cannot produce. As a fashion photographer, Gi-Seok has worked with Vogue Korea, Elle Korea, Esquire Korea and brands such as Prada, Nike, Adidas and Cartier.

Coexistence is Cho Gi-Seok’s first major exhibition and seeks to show a range of his work taken between 2018-2020. Gi-Seok’s photographs are often characterized by elaborate compositions where all matters and every choice is carefully executed. There is a gentle emphasis on harmony, purity, beauty, symbolism and that of a refined atmosphere. Whether it is a portrait of a person or a flower, the photograph will reflect the complexity of life and its beautiful ambiguity. Coexistence is a word Cho Gi-Seok often returns to in his work. He believes that everything is destined to coexist: stones, trees, animals, spaces, machines and humans.
