NOBA Nordic Baltic contemporary art platform

Throughout 2019 Ann Kristin Einarsen posted a picture of one new vase on Instagram every day. The starting point for the project was to create a framework for exploration of materials and techniques, and at the same time create a self-induced pressure to produce and not least to present. Months and weeks were divided into different themes as Einarsen worked systematically through exploration of form, construction, manufacturing methods, clays, glazes and other finishes. The project also explores and challenges the concept of vase and functionality. The use of social media as a platform came from a desire to convey the potential of the ceramic material to a wide audience, and at the same time provide insight into the creative process including both trial and error. The exhibition at Galleri Format is the first time the project is shown in its entirety (in reality).

Ann Kristin Einarsen (b. 1981, Narvik) holds a MA in applied arts from the Oslo Academy of the Arts, and also has a background in crafts studies at Volda University College and Telemark University College.
