Work Hard, Party Harder, 2025
Acrylic on primed MDF board, wooden frame.
The artwork was presented in the group exhibition Contemporary Venice in Italy in March 2026.
Cats have long been an endless source of inspiration for the artist. This particular work was inspired by Mars, a friend’s cat, happily rolling around and relaxing on a brightly coloured rug. The artist began imagining the scene further — as if the cat had just finished a long and “difficult” day of work and was now fully embracing a well-deserved celebration and moment of rest.
Through a playful and humorous visual narrative, the work reflects on small everyday pleasures, rituals of relaxation, and the human tendency to project familiar emotions and behaviours onto animals. At the same time, the vivid colour palette and calm composition create a warm yet subtly ironic atmosphere, where an ordinary moment takes on an almost theatrical quality.
