“I choose to paint abandoned places that lack memory and recognition. The virtual image changes on the plane of the painting through time. This duration gives the image a recognition of painting itself that can be found in art history or in my own experience. Such images and spaces like that become painterly and remembered. Even if memory is only capable of recognising loss. Paintings become inventories of our losses that we are able to recognise and to live as new.”
