Snow, plastic bottle
The snow solution is a preserved object: snow held in a transformed state. It is the first sample of a collection I began on February 21, 2025. On December 18 of the same year, during the exhibition “Transitional States”, the sample M16VL-S210225 melted and met the snow of the new winter. Since then, I have been storing the melted snow in a sealed, reused plastic bottle, hoping to preserve it for the next 450 or 500 years – approximately the time it takes for a PET bottle to decompose. I was inspired to collect snow both by intuition and by researchers who warn that, due to climate change, snow may disappear from Lithuania within this century. Today, my collection contains more than 4 kilograms of snow. Perhaps one day it will serve as a witness for future generations who may never experience snow themselves. This artwork was showcased in two group exhibitions between 2025 and 2026: “Memorika” and “Transitional States”.
