In my installation Scandinavian Spring I engage in the visual worlds of Romanticism and National Romanticism – nature, fairytales and ideas of home and belonging. Painting is surrounded by graphic and sculptural elements, and through decorative objects I approach the ornamental culture of the 19th century, where emotions take on a physical form. I have used these historical movements as material to explore how its themes operate within my own gaze. Romanticism is vulnerability and sacrifice, love is labor. Exhibited at Galleri Verkligheten (Umeå) 9.5.2026-25.5.2026.
