The idea was complex- torn edges around the eye like fragments of thought or memory; the vivid blue iris draws the viewer in, inviting contemplation of a boundary between external and internal reality and inner awareness. Yet as the viewer observes the artwork, they are also being watched- like a two way mirror. The artwork challenges us to consider not just what we see, but how we are seen in return.
