“How to Become a Woman?” is a multidimensional and interdisciplinary work, the basis of which is painting and the resulting compositional approach. The work addresses questions about what it means to be a woman, what society believes – what a woman should be like, and how the physical and emotional transition from “woman” to “WOMAN” manifests itself? The work is generally designed as a pictorial installation or bedroom where all the magic happens. It includes the painting “Mirror”, which creates life in a “recently abandoned space” through it; four video works – “Woman in Process”, “Woman Washes”, “A Woman Needs Rest Too” and “A Woman’s Place is the Kitchen”; the magazine “How to Become a Woman?”; as well as the performance “√Woman”. The installation is designed as an optical illusion, when separated at a certain distance, all the works together form one whole painting, but each work is also autonomous. A feminist methodology was used in the creation of this work. Its aim is not to indicate the only path that can be followed by a woman, but to demonstrate an ironic vision based on a patriarchal belief system of what a woman is and how it manifests itself, and how we as women internalize these assumptions and use them in everyday life. This artwork / space / installation is like a theater stage for an evening and a process when girls come together to become women. Going through each step that helps women feel more beautiful. The desire for excellence and perfection. A role has already been assigned from birth.
