Acrylic on Canvas. The painting is from the exhibition PEACE TIME/ WAR GAME: 2012 Peace Time/ War Game, Art Container’s Gallery, Tallinn 2011-2012 Peace Time/ War Game, Estonian Ministry of Defence, Tallinn 2011 Peace Time/ War Game, Pärnu City Gallery, Pärnu The borderland of war and peace. The World as a play-field of these antipodes which draw out each other’s possibility. Here there is no search for a cause of the war nor for possibilities of retaining the peace. There is no intention of attaching militarism to human nature nor to name a desire of peace to mankind’s will. The war and the peace are. This being actuates an everyday tension, a tension to be found in a relationship between the one and the other; through this passionate cuddle they find each other. There is a denying of everything. In this denial active force is oriented to destroy. There is a denying of everything. In this denial passive inactivity itself is forgotten into the moment in order to open the latter’s totality. Eternity gets its voice. In passivity, war will get the role of a minor character. Maybe the game is about peace? (Kaia Otstak 2011)
