Her photo project OMG, She is bald! reveals how the hair (or loss thereof) has been attributed a special meaning throughout the history of humankind. For most nations of the world, hair represents the source of power and life force, making people afraid of losing it. Historically, a shaved head indicated to prisoners and soldiers, their loss of individuality, suppression of personality, and subordination to power. The stories of bald women told by Annika Haas do not support these common beliefs but show exactly the opposite. Or, according to the artist’s statement, “why cannot people be as they are. After all, it is only hair

Money will go to support cancer patients.
