The painting “Birches and Spruces” was written about at the Vernissage 2024 autumn auction: “Since the 1990s, Leis has painted large-format paintings of birches and spruces, inspired by the trees growing in the garden of her summer home and increasingly feeling that she is a “tree-believer”. She has painted them with the precision of a botanical artist, while at the same time fresh and in her own aesthetically effective style.”
