This is a series that expands across time and space, where each new scene marks a chapter in the artist’s journey of self-discovery. The first linocut in the series, “Act Three”, dates back to 2023 and was featured in the 2024 Tartu Art Auction. The linocut “Act Three, Scene Three” (2025) participated in the “Buy Young Art” (Osta noort kunsti) autumn auction in 2025 and was displayed at the “Multinektar in the Multiverse” exhibition at Gallery Pallas.
The latest work in the series, “Act Three, Scene Four,” was completed this year (2026) and revealed itself to the artist in a dream. The metaphysical series “Act Three” depicts the Butterfly Woman in the third phase of her life – a moment where inner transformation has led to maturity and self-actualization. The caterpillar and cocoon stages remain only as a conceptual backstory, symbolizing the internal evolution that culminated in her emergence as a butterfly. The Butterfly Woman stands in the spotlight, her shadow behind her offering support. The black-and-white checkerboard beneath her feet symbolizes the choices she faces. The vertically divided black-and-white background represents a space-time continuum, where the shadow is as vast as the light that cast it. Balance in this realm is not a static state or accidental harmony, but a continuous, conscious process.
