Säde Eddie Choo Wen Yi, a multidisciplinary artist, currently resides in Helsinki, Finland. She is on track to graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of the Arts Helsinki in December 2023. She holds a diploma in Painting from Dasein Academy of Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Sculpture from Bachelor of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of Arts, Taiwan. In 2023, her artwork “Säde Huussissa” was featured in the BFA Exhibition 2023, organized by the Academy of Fine Arts at Uniarts Helsinki. Exhibitions and Achievements: In 2022, she completed an internship at documenta fifteen “lumbung radio”, supported by traineeship grants from the University of the Arts Helsinki.in July of the same year, joined the art collective Station Of Commons. In 2021, Eddie was invited to the ‘The Space Between’ performance art festival in Copenhagen, where she presented her piece ‘Extreme Conditions II’ with the support of the University of the Arts Helsinki Foundation’s general grants. In 2020, her work “Yet to come” was featured in the “Island of Relations” exhibition on Kuninkaansaari island, Helsinki, Finland. In 2017, she received the prestigious LIAO SHIOU-PING Printmaking Award for her artist book ‘100 New Taiwan Dollar.’ Her ‘Madline’ series was exhibited in the National Art Gallery Malaysia and the ‘The Young Voice’ group exhibition at the Taichung City Dudan Cultural Center. This series also participated in the Zero-Dollar Production, Art Residency Exhibition at the Chung Hsing Cultural and Creative Park in Yilan, Taiwan. In 2016, her participation in the ‘Extending Ideas’ group exhibition at the Museum & Gallery Tengku Fauziah, USM, Pulau Pinang, and Feeka, Kuala Lumpur, was supported by the Goethe Institut Malaysia. Her collaboration project, the ‘Fake Skin Tattoo Project,’ was exhibited at Rijitohito Art Space in Tokyo. She also self-published the ‘Tom the Virginbreaker in Tokyo’ photo book in Taipei. Additionally, her sculpture ‘South Gate’ is part of the public art collection in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, Malaysia. In 2015, the Madline series was exhibited at her second solo show, ‘Journey of Madline,’ at Lostgens’ Contemporary Art Space, Kuala Lumpur, followed by an exhibition in the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan. In 2013, her solo exhibition for ‘The Diary of Madline’ was honored at Lostgens’ Contemporary Art Space in Kuala Lumpur after an art residency.
