Anna-Sofia Nylund ^{Emerging artist}

Anna-Sofia Nylund (1985) has a background in documentary and media art (Arcada 2011) and will finish her Masters of Fine Arts at University of Fine Arts, Helsinki in 2022/2023. Her experimental short films have been screened at festivals around the world and have received several prizes. Nylunds main focus is on Video- and Performance art, but she has also worked with documentaries and theater, both as a director and a performer. In 2015 she created the performance Room Without Escape (with Lida Bäck). The interactive performance that was streamed online was seen by 8000 people. The first demo happened at the performance festival Baltic Circle. They recreated the performance at Hangö Theater festival 2017 and made it into an exhibition for Zebra Galleri in 2016. In 2017 she directed Festen (the Party) at the Swedish Theater in Helsinki and in December 2019 she created a durational performance about dopamine (with Lida Bäck) at Theater Viirus (Helsinki). In 2018 the site specific performance about modern ruins, A Pool House (with Venla Helenius), was held in an abandoned bath house complex in Helsinki. The performance was also made into a video with the same name that participated in the young Artist exhibition at Helsinki Kunsthalle (2019). In 2020 her first feature documentary film “Jeppis Sucks” had its premiere. The film was produced by Nordic Film Pool OY. In 2022 Anna-Sofia is working with a trilogy on nature, magic, spirituality and sexuality. The first work Seize the Moment is a 3-channeled video installation, the second O. who was a part of Nylund’s master theses, is a single channel experimental documentary and the last work will be a video essay about ecosexuality, and is to be shown in Galleri Huuto (Helsinki) October 2022.
